An open match is a game with places left, visible to players looking for a game. With Palarena, you find them near you, see everyone’s level before you sign up, and pay only your share.
Find a match near you
In the Palarena app, search around your town or your location, up to 50 km away. Each match shows the club, the date and time, the level range, the players already in with their levels, the places left and the price per player.
In your club’s app, open matches also show on the slots. When you join a match, your place is held for 10 minutes while you pay your share.
Organise an open match
When booking, choose “Open to all players”. You can set the level range you are looking for and say whether the match is friendly or competitive. An invitation-only match can also be opened later if places are still free.
A player outside the range can ask to join, and the players already in decide.
Nobody pays for a game that does not happen
Every player pays their share. A hold is placed on your card in advance, and nothing is taken before the game starts.
If the match is not full and paid by the deadline the club sets, between 2 and 12 hours before the start, it is cancelled automatically and nobody is charged. You see this deadline before you create or join the match.
Friendly or competitive
A friendly match is played for fun. A competitive match counts towards your level, and after the game, one player enters the score and the other team confirms it.

What happens if the match is not full?
An open match that is not full and paid by the deadline the club sets is cancelled automatically. Card holds are released and nobody is charged.
Can I leave an open match?
Yes, up until the game starts. Cancelling is free up to the deadline set by the club, which you see before you pay.
Do I need a level to join a match?
For a competitive match or one limited to a level range, yes. The quiz gives you your level in about 2 minutes.
